Volusia County Orchid Society 24th Annual Show and Expo

Wendy Fisher. We are excited to acknowledge the years of dedication, passion, and service. Through his outreach efforts, our society is vibrant and healthy. He has been an officer and board member for many years and was president from Stan's enthusiasm for this annual event is infectious, and he has spent countless hours designing, constructing, and manning our display with the help of a large team. He has diligently served in many executive positions helping to foster the vibrant society that we have today. He has worked tirelessly on behalf of the society. When we needed help with our annual holiday party, Denice stepped in. She judges at our annual show and sale. Charlie has been a dedicated society member since ; he's our society's ribbon judging chair and a director on the Board. Mauro has always been involved in our activities and projects with enormous, constant, and priceless involvement. She is also a former board member. Both work at our annual orchid show manning the information table, working on registering orchids for the show, and procuring the food for that busy weekend. She was elected SFOS treasurer in May , and immediately "rolled up her sleeves" and got to work not only to take over the role but to really dig into the details, carefully considering the overall and show-specific budgets, and came up with many suggestions to either cut costs or bring further value for the money we were spending. Carolyn has held every office in the organization and has served on the Board and many committees. He served as president in — Charlie is our ribbon judging chair for amateur, advanced amateur, and exhibited plant at our monthly meetings and also clerks for the judges at our yearly shows, auctions, and other functions. Kathy has been a very active member of our society, holding the offices of V. Clark is an exceptional orchid grower who started growing at six years of age. Clark was instrumental in locating our new meeting place. The association is giving him a one-year subscription to Orchid Digest as well as the Diamond Award for his generosity and enthusiasm. Once they bloom, the orchids are distributed to local hospitals. We deeply appreciate all that Keith has done for OOS and orchid growing in general. She is most deserving of receiving this award and the recognition that goes with it. He has also represented OOS at other horticulture organizations and the general public by giving well-received presentations about orchids and their culture. She sets up society shoe exhibits, publishes our monthly newsletter, manages our Facebook page, and is the Registration Chairperson for our annual show. As a former IRS Agent, she balances our books, pays the bills on time, and reports it for all to understand. We are very fortunate to have Stan as a member and congratulate him on this well-deserved award. We appreciate her years of service and look forward to her continued support and contributions in the future. Wendy is at our meetings collecting the money for memberships and the plant raffle table each month. We are pleased to acknowledge his efforts. Riley for his 32 years of dedicated service to the Society. Kathy has been a true asset to the MOS and we are lucky to have her. She stepped in as Treasurer for the Orchid Society of Southern California, and we are far, far better for it. Thank you, Faye! Connie first helped in the kitchen, and next served as a Board member, and this year took over the duties of Treasurer. Because of all this and her continuous love and devotion to the society, we are pleased to award her with the Orchid Digest Diamond Award. His insightful and comical assessment of our show table orchids has kept our meetings lively and entertaining. Erin came to the society with enthusiasm, saw the need for a new president, and volunteered to fill the role.{/INSERTKEYS}{/PARAGRAPH} His passion for orchids dates back to the s, and since then, he has exceled in both the cultivation and the study of orchids. Carolyn is always ready to offer advice and support on orchid culture and mentors new hobbyists. We are pleased to acknowledge the years of dedication and service he has given to our society. For 50 years he grew in his basement under lights and, in the last six years, in his pride and joy greenhouse. Faye has done an exemplary job not only as Treasurer, but volunteers to help out with every aspect of the society's activities including service as co-chair for both of SFOS's shows Pacific Orchid Exposition in February and Orchids in the Park in July. He serves as one of our society's financial auditors along with our treasurer. She is very involved in our annual show, helping with set up and tear down, planning the Friday night dinner for workers and guests, sitting at the information table and answering visitors questions, and leading tours of the various exhibits. His extensive computer programming expertise has helped immensely to streamline the workings of our society. Clark has been and continues to be a valued member of the Maryland Orchid Society, deserving of recognition for his unwavering dedication, outstanding service, and many, many contributions. He is always willing to lend an extra hand with any task that comes up. Denice has grown as an orchid hobbyist and the orchids that she grew under lights have moved into her new greenhouse! His undisputed love is the Cypripedioideae. We are so fortunate to have Allen as our member, and we appreciate everything that he does. Wendy is someone any society would be overjoyed to have as a member. They have proven to be invaluable assets to the Michigan Orchid Society, always willing to help when needed. She even went so far as to buy Orchid Wiz to better understand her job. For three years, Keith has been our Oklahoma Orchid Society OOS Vice President spending countless hours to provide our society with great speakers and topics for our two presentations that are given at most monthly meetings. She has kept our books in order which makes our annual audit and creating a budget an efficient process. Her helpful and knowledgeable demeanor, along with her great smile, is a welcome asset to everyone in the society. Congratulations, Kathy! He is a real orchid ambassador. Faye's "cando," cheerful and welcoming attitude has motivated existing members to work together more collaboratively, and also helped us with recruiting new members. Charlotte is responsible for maintaining the membership database and publishing the yearly membership directory. For many years she helped set up our displays at out of town shows and has set up many displays on her own. He has always passionately shared his time and knowledge about the world of orchids with everyone. She has served in every board position, being elected to President in Not long after serving as President, she became a Trustee and serves in that position to this time. Connie continues to step forward when needed and offers fresh, new ideas. She asked how she could help or if she saw something that needed to be done, she did it. Denice soon accepted the position as our Treasurer. The society never lacked his support and help, even if it meant he had to give up hours of his own free time. He writes informative articles for our monthly newsletter and is a member of Orchids Forum. She was a member of one of the most active and longest-running study groups in MOS history. Carolyn has been extremely active since she joined in the mid to late s. She immediately jumped in with both feet and began working on committees and the board. For many years, Jeff has not only come up with ideas for the theme of our annual international orchid show but he also constructed the society displays. Carl has shared his impressive and extensive knowledge of orchid species and culture and has inspired new members, many of whom he has mentored. As a board member on our show committee, he's responsible for getting volunteers for our shows. We are very fortunate and happy to honor a very deserving individual. {PARAGRAPH}{INSERTKEYS}Clark T. She and her husband run the raffle at the monthly meetings. Her vice-presidential duties include planning and coordinating the annual board member installment, member outings, the holiday potluck, and other society events. Thank you. An excellent paphiopedilum grower, Charlie has donated several of his plants to the society. He has served as president and show chair. Carl has strived to enthusiastically champion the world of orchids and, especially, the native orchids. For all these accomplishments, she was awarded the Orchidist of the Year award in Her work on the MOS board is proof of her love and devotion to the society. He has been instrumental in elevating the profile of our show by coordinating the move to the 10, square foot greenhouse venue at the Enjoy Center that bathes the display and vendor areas with natural light. Early on Connie decided to help our society. From start to finish, indoors or out, rain or shine, dirt or mud, heat or cold…he gives his all. Thank you, Carolyn! Charlotte has been our membership chairperson for over ten years and is the first person to interact with prospective society members. We are very fortunate to have Charlotte as one of our dedicated members and congratulate her on this well-deserved award. She generously shares her duplicate plants with all of us. Aside from juggling the jobs of Treasurer, Wendy brings sweets for the refreshment table and each October works endlessly at the Huntington International Orchid Show registering plants. The Baton Rouge Orchid Society has been greatly enriched by the innumerable contributions that Carolyn has made to it and its members. She picks up the plants and arranges for society members to foster them. She shares her extensive knowledge with the society as well as speaking to other various groups. Keith is always willing to help and share.
